Journeys for a Lifetime Inc., is a 100% Canadian subsidiary of the Polish children’s charity, Fundacja Dziecięca Fantazja (Fantazja).
Fantazja is the creation of Canadian husband and wife team, Garry Oliver & Kamila Rybicka, and since 2004 it has granted the wishes and dreams of over 6,000 children suffering from terminal illnesses or life-limiting conditions. The children’s wishes and dreams include:
- Material: laptops, smartphones, tablets, musical instruments, TVs, gaming devices, sports equipment, toys, games, books, bikes, furniture, clothes, cosmetics, jewelry.
- Personal: “I want to be” (soldier, fireman, model, princess), “I want to meet” (artists, sport stars and celebrities ), “I want to do” (parachute, swim with dolphins, drive a racing car), makeovers, photo sessions.
- Travel: to international sport and music events, foreign countries, seaside and mountains, Disneyland, Legoland.
- Special Needs: rehabilitation bikes, wigs, wheelchairs, orthotics, alternative communication software, interactive toys and games, hammocks, swings, medical equipment and financing for hospital treatments & life-changing surgeries.
Fantazja began the Journey for a Lifetime service-learning program in 2007 and, to date, 65 Journey for a Lifetime trips from Canada to Poland have taken place which have collectively made over 1,000 sick children’s wishes come true.
Fantazja expanded its service-learning opportunities for Canadian youth through its innovative Heart 2 Heart and Discover Your Poland programs.
Fantazja gives additional support to over of 100 children each year, through its “Live with Dignity” program by providing beds & bedding, furniture & room accessories, to make living space for the children, giving them privacy, dignity, comfort and better sanitary conditions.
Fantazja provides laptops & software for the children’s further education and to connect to society, helping to prevent social exclusion.
Fantazja organizes three Special Events each year for sick children and their families: Dream Night at the ZOO, now in its 15th year; Children’s Christmas Gala Party, which is already the largest event of its kind in Europe, and; Residential Summer Camps.
